The art of caricature is about studying the person and knowing what features should be exaggerated in such a manner that at one glance people should recognize the person ” said cartoonist Hadimani while showcasing his work at the Indian cartoon Gallery here today. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr Chandrashekhara Kambar,Jnanpith Awardee . On the occasion, Dr.Chadrashekara Kambar said “ I was inspired by Picassos paintings, simplicity of lines in those paintings can be seen in these caricatures also these paintings reflect history in a humorous manner.”
Caricatures on display are mostly of political and popular figures — favourite subjects of Hadimani. Humour works brilliantly with politicians and celebrities like Amitabh Bachan, Dalai Lama, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar , Pratibha Patel, Man Mohan Singh, Lalu Prasad Yadav etc.
Around 63 selected caricatures and illustrations created by Shri Hadimani are on display at the exhibition. The exhibition will be on for public till February 11th 2012 at The Indian Cartoon Gallery, No 1,MidfordGardens, Behind Big Kids Kemp, Off MG Road,Bangalore-1, except on Sundays.
About The Cartoonist: Shri Hadimani started his career as a artist in “Suddi Sangati” a Kannada weekly. Shri Hadimani also worked as staff artist for Lankesh Patrike ,a political weekly news magazine. Shri Hadimani also worked in “The Week” a weekly English magazine as a chief illustrator for 11 years . Shri Hadimani has recieved Chief Editor’s gold medal award for the Best Performer of the Year ,The Week Malayala Manorama Group in 2009.
